Exploring the Santurbán moor is entering a world of incomparable magic and beauty. This natural sanctuary, located between Santander and Norte de Santander, Colombia, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me, Alejandra, a Colombian jewelry designer.
In every corner of this dream landscape, I find reasons to create and share the essence of my land through my designs. My “Santurban” collection was born from the deep connection I feel with this magical place. Each piece tells the story of its imposing mountains, its famous black lagoons and its majestic frailejones that adorn the landscape as ancestral guardians.
My goal with this collection is to invite everyone to discover the natural wealth of Colombia through signature jewelry. Each piece of jewelry is not only a unique and exclusive piece, but also a bridge that connects those who wear it with the vibrant energy of our country.
The frailejones, iconic symbols of the Santurbán moor, are the center of my inspiration. I have created gold, silver and bronze pieces dipped in gold, which capture the majesty and strength of these living beings that only live in these heights. Every detail is carefully crafted using various artisanal techniques, reflecting my commitment to authenticity and quality in each creation.
Just two months ago, a ravenous fire devastated more than 400 hectares of this natural paradise, consuming numerous frailejones. However, I was able to witness the perfection of divine creation by seeing how, in such a short time, the frailejones have been reborn, reminding us of the resilience and strength of nature. Nature is perfect and connects with anyone who allows it, you just have to give it the opportunity.
In addition to the frailejones, my designs are also inspired by the shapes and textures of the rock formations that populate this surreal landscape. Each piece is a tribute to the diversity and beauty that surrounds us, a reminder that we must preserve and appreciate the nature that has been so generously gifted to us.
In short, my job as a jewelry designer is more than creating accessories; It is a way to share my love for Colombia and its wonderful biodiversity.
